What’s It About?

I am an [almost] 80 year old retired psychiatrist. I grew up in Dallas, but have been living in New York City for the past 50 years. I have a new career in retirement — publishing and maintaining my Substack site, called “From the Rabbit Hole”.

Substack gives me this virtual wall to display my thoughts and experiences. It will allow me to share some family history and memorabilia, which may only be of interest to my children, my grandchildren and extended family. I like to think of it as my personal time capsule, available for inspection now and in the future.

This site also gives me a digital place to hang my reflections, which may include a story or memoir, and maybe an essay here or there. It also gives me a convenient platform to share with ‘senior citizens’ like myself the meaning of (inevitable) age-related decline; how to confront that decline, and in certain cases, effectively work around it. Together, we may look into aspects of contemporary life, following where it leads, even if it takes us down one rabbit hole to another.

(Of course it is free; there is no cost.) Whenever I put something new up on my Substack site, you will be notified.

I am a retired psychiatrist, from Dallas, living in NYC for 50 years, and the first recipient of the Arnold Rosen Life Experience Fellowship. I thank my retirement plan, and my wife, Sondra, whose sagacious investment strategies made this possible.
